The Hunt for the Telepathic Mutants
It’s hard to believe, but it
seems as if the household of our great and noble Joseph Strorm has been yet
again tainted with the discovery of Offences, this time two: David and Petra Strorm. The two Strorms, along with their
cousin Rosalind Morton and two other girls, turn out to be telepathic (you can
read more on pg. …). We have captured two of these telepaths but David, Petra,
and Rosalind are currently on the run. Although they made a swift departure,
they were not able to completely conceal their location. Soon after their
escape, one of our men found their trail, and his horse came back, giving away
the trio’s location. What happened to the man is uncertain. It is, however,
highly possible that he’d been murdered by one of the telepaths. Creations of
the devil are, after all, capable of such doings. This is nineteen-year-old
Michael Fayer(the youngest of the men hunting the deviants)’s opinion on our
runaway mutants:
“It’s hard to believe that they
[David, Petra, and Rosalind] can actually communicate without talking out loud.
This is a holy power that only God has, so could it be that they are actually
closer to the True Image than anyone who does not have this power? Either way,
we are under orders to bring these Offences back, and I hope that that will
help to resolve this controversy.”
Fayer presents an interesting
opinion, but it is not that of the majority. This is what David and Petra’s
father, our one and only Joseph Strorm, thinks, also arguably what most people
in Waknuk think:
“David, Petra, and Rosalind are
extremely dangerous deviations, as they have are not simply impure physically,
but rather mentally. We simply must get
a hold of them and stop this madness. The Devil is rampaging in my family and I
must remain faithful to God and do what He would want me to do. David and Petra
are not my children; they are the children of the Devil, and I shall treat them
that way.”
Everyone should watch out and be extremely
cautious as there may be more of these Offences anywhere out there. They have
hidden powers and are creations of the devil. Do not be deceived by their
seemingly normal outer appearance! This dangerous telepathic power of theirs
could lead to extreme dangers for our society. Waknuk must be exceedingly
cautious when dealing with these monsters! They
may be plotting for our downfall! Keep your faith in God, and know that He
will find a way to overcome the devil which has settled upon us in Waknuk. On
the other hand, there will be a reward of … for anyone who can kill these three
deviants, and even more if they are brought back alive.
Letter to the Editor
To the Editor:
Greetings!
We are writing from one of the
districts just outside the borders of Waknuk. It is considered Fringes since it
is technically not part of Waknuk, but it’s more of a town; we are just rather
isolated due to the WakEast River that divides us from Waknuk. We love reading
The Waknuk Star as it helps us catch up with many events that we miss out on
due to our physical location!
Many people in our district were wondering
about one of the articles in last week’s issue of The Waknuk Star. In the issue,
there was an article regarding the father of a mutated girl who was discovered
to have faked a Normalcy Certificate in order to save his daughter. It was also
said that he was able to do so because he worked for the government as an
inspector. Because Offences cannot exactly be classified as rare, this is an
issue that could become or has already become reality for many of us. When a
child is discovered to be mutated, is it really appropriate to deal with it so
hastily? What if the child was able to overcome its mutation and do great
things in the future? Most of all, we can sympathize with the father who
decided to create a fake Normalcy Certificate for his daughter, since everyone
loves their children and believe that they can grow up to fit in even with
their differences.
Thank you for your time!

The Waknuk Star acknowledges your
appreciation of our newspaper and that you wrote to us. As the editor, I can
assure you that The Waknuk Star represents the opinion of the majority of
Waknuk’s citizens. Anyone in Waknuk would be able to answer your questions
without even thinking. You see, Waknuk is a town blessed by God, unlike your
Fringes, and we work to keep it untainted by the devil. We uphold the True
Image that God wants, and we know that anything that does not follow the True
Image is not holy and is a creation of the devil. It is true that parents
should love their children, but they should not love the children of the devil.
If they give birth to an Offence, they should be praying to God for His
forgiveness, not trying to conceal their demon child. These deviants can grow
up and pretend to be normal, but they will never be normal, because they have the devil within them, and they
naturally belong in the Fringes. Look what kind of an uncivilized society and
wild society exists in the Fringes, where the deviants do run wild. Do you want our society to become Godless like theirs?
I believe that Waknuk is, by all means, a better place to be than the Fringes,
and that the people of Waknuk have come this far only because we have the help
of God. We do not want to upset Him by letting the devil’s creations roam his
land freely, and recommend that you do the same before your land does get as wild as the rest of the
Fringes.
Good luck to you!
Angeni Wang
